A splinter of moon hung high in the night sky. Flying stars raced past it, twinkling wish the glow of magic. Oscuro slipped into his den, dripping with mud, snow and blood. His face was curled into a snarl and in his fangs he held a small grey rabbit. One of it's legs hung by a thin string of muscle, and blood matted it's fur down in clumps.

Oscuro padded through the narrow cave entrance, his pad's cut and oozing a trail of red on the cold, grey floor, from hours of long running on sharp stones. Trickles of rain water fell from the many ledges filled with herbs, like ginseng and watercress. The loud ringing of claws on rock, echoed in Oscuro's ears. He flared his nostrils, and tested the air. He place smelled of water, dew, moss, mold, grass.

The small pool of spring water bubbled near his nest. Dropping the rabbit in a small furry heap, he reached down to lap up a mouthful of water. His reflection wavered in the clear blue pool. A leaf drifted in his view, sailing across and spreading small ripples.

Oscuro sat up on his haunches slowly. Holding his hand above his head as though to reach for something, a small trickle beaded down his fur, matting it like the rabbit's. A shaft of moonlight caught it and sent down a waterfall of sparkles.
